If a user tests positive for COVID-19, they can anonymously report their status through the app. Notifications are then sent to devices whose keys have been stored on the smartphone over the past two weeks. The owners of these devices will receive a push notification with the date of the contact, but no personal information about the sick person will be shared.

The app does not transmit data about the phone, its owner, or location. Only information about exposure to COVID-19 on a specific date in the last 14 days is available. The more users that use the app, the more accurately the risk of virus infection can be assessed, and timely testing and treatment can be initiated.
